About this event
The Hearing Health Foundation mark auditory processing disorder awareness day each year on 4 April to highlight the effects and challenges associated with living with auditory processing disorders.
Auditory processing disorder (APD) is an auditory deficit affecting how the central nervous system interprets verbal information. Those living with APD show impairments in sound localisation, specifically their ability to isolate a sound source in social environments.
Approximately 5% of school children have APD. Struggling to keep up with conversations in noisy classrooms can affect their ability to read, spell and follow verbal directions.
